Discuss with your Class Simple Acts of Kindness for Your Students to Incorporate into Their Day
- Hold the door open for someone.
- Smile at someone you might normally ignore.
- Invite someone to your party or for a play date because you know they want to be your friend.
- Don’t exclude someone because they look different.
- Tell a friend how nice they look.
- Send a handwritten thank you note.
- Help your elderly neighbor by taking out their garbage, helping to wash their car, mowing their lawn, or shovel their drive¬way. Or just go over to just say hello.
- Invite a classmate to play with you during recess and don’t let a classmate eat alone at school.
- Donate your toys and books to children who are less fortunate.
- Thank the people who serve you lunch every day, and let them know how much you enjoyed it.
- Thank the people who keep your school so sparkling clean.
- Make your bed or clean up your room without being told to do it.
- Help someone carry their groceries to their car.
- Ask a friend who is struggling in school if they need help with their homework or a school project.
- Say you are sorry after teasing a sibling or a friend.
- Put your phone and iPad down at dinner without being told.
- Be sure to thank the your grandparents, an aunt or uncle who are helping your parents when they need support.
- Make someone smile if you think they are sad.
- Ask to set the table.
- Take your dog for a walk without being told to do it.
- Let someone go ahead of you in line.
- Bake a dessert for someone who is sick.
- Write a thank-you note to your teacher.
- Pick up litter.
- Always be kind to someone who may look different and always remember it’s never okay to make fun of someone’s looks or clothes.
- Set up a lemonade stand and donate the money to a charity of your choice.
- Tell your teacher or parents immediately if you think someone in your class or neighborhood is being bullied and always remember it’s never okay to be a bully or to watch someone being bullied.
- And finally, always remember to be kind. Kindness is contagious and the more you incorporate small acts of kindness in your daily lives, the more you will want to do it over and over again.
